Ombudsman Martha Chizuma has nullified the appointment of Benson Tembo who is currently serving as Technical Advisor on Digital Migration.
Chizuma made the order today when she was presenting findings on of maladministration in the recruitment of various staff members by former Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (Macra) Director General Godfrey Itaye as well as his own recruitment.
In her presentation,Chizuma the secondment of Benson Tembo from MBC to Macra as Advisor in Digital Migration in 2014 was irregular and illegal as it was only done to clear the way for Aubrey Sumbuleta as the Director General of MBC.
Ombudsman has also dismissed allegation that Fergus Lipenga, one of the directors for Macra (responsible for broadcasting), was recruited illegally.
She said Lipenga had all the qualifications for the office and the allegations that he was appointed because he was a DPP sympathizer were not supported by law.
