Government has ordered Timotheos Foundation Management to submit expenditure reports for the years 2011-2015, to NGO board by May 30, 2021, and those of 2015-2020 by June 30, or risk closure.
Minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare, Patricia Kaliati, engaged Timotheos Foundation management, NGO Board and other stakeholders in Nsanje Tuesday.
While there it was noted that the organization has not been submitting expenditure reports since 2011.
Besides that NGO Board of Malawi Director of Economic and Marketing Services, Geoffrey Samson Chimwala, confirmed the development.
Chimwala said that organization was also operating illegally between 2011 and 2013, as it was registered with the NGO Board of Malawi in 2013 but it came into existence in Malawi in 2011.
However the organization’s management has declined to comment on the matter.
On April 30, communities around Timotheos Foundation Chigumukire Child Care Centre in Nsanje, protested what they call poor welfare for children among others.
