The body of Lance Corporal Chitenji Kamanga who was killed by rebels in the Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC has arrived through Kamuzu International Airport(KIA) in Lilongwe.
Kamanga was killed in an ambush on a base in Kiliya on May 10. She died aged 28.
She becomes the first female soldier to die in the combat since Malawi begun participating in the UN peacekeeping war in DRC 1994.
To date, Malawi has atleast 900 uniformed soldiers in peacekeeping missions across Africa, including the DRC.
Lance Corporal Kamanga hailed from Mbayani in Traditional Authority Machinjiri in Blantyre.
