A Class 7 pupil on Tuesday stabbed and killed his classmate with a kitchen knife following a fight over a pen at their school in Nyamira County, Kenya.

According to The Citizen Tv, the boy aged 17 years is said to have engaged in a fight over ownership of a pen with his 14-year-old deskmate at Bogwendo Primary School before they separated by the teacher on duty.

However, after lunch break the 17-year-old returned to school with a knife and stabbed his classmate on the chest, killing him on the spot.

The accused attempted to escape and hide the knife but was arrested and detained at a local Police Station in Manga area.

Police’s Gabriel Mwangangi confirmed the arrest, stating that investigations into the incident are underway.

Following the incident irate locals stormed the boy’s home and torched three houses belonging to their family. No one was injured as the family members managed to escape during the chaos.

The body of the deceased pupil was moved to the Nyamira Level V Hospital morgue.
