Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom: A couple was left in awe when they welcomed a baby so big it was hard to lift by just one person.

On March 25, Amy Smit, 27, and her husband Zac, 28, were stunned to learn that baby boy, Zagrys (Zeik), weighed an astonishing 12lbs (5.5 kgs) and was nearly two feet tall (60cm). Funnily enough, Zeik wouldn’t even fit on a regular scale, so doctors had to bring in a more suitable scale to weigh him.

Regarding the birth of her baby, Amy said:

“He was so big that it took two people to lift him out. There were all these really small ladies around me, and I heard one of them saying, ‘I need some help, he’s enormous.

When they lifted him above the screen for me and Zac to see, my first words were ‘bloody hell.”

And while the couple expected Zeik to be big, he still managed to surprise them.

His mother went on to say:

“We knew he was going to be a tall baby, because all the scans showed he was quite long, and both Zac and I are around the six-foot mark. But we had no idea he would be that big.

He didn’t even fit on the scales when they went to weigh him, he was too long and wide. They had to make a makeshift plank thing to balance him on them.”

Because of his enormous size, not even the big clothes the parents bought him could fit.

Amy said she had bought clothes for children aged up to 3 months, but they weren’t even close to fitting Zagrys. Eventually, they had to turn to the older clothing age range of 6 to 9 months.

Strangely enough, the mother said she lost her appetite while pregnant with Zeik, but she is thankful that this happened, and added,

“I just keep thinking, imagine how much bigger he could have been if I had eaten lots!”

The big boy is now at home with his older sister Lola and, despite his XXL size, she calls him ‘my baby’.

Zagrys’ size has left his dad hoping he will one day become a great rugby player, and while Zagrys is undoubtedly a giant baby, the country’s biggest baby prize goes to George Joseph King, who was born in February 2013, weighing a whopping 15lbs (6.8 kgs).
