The Malawi Police Service has transferred some of its officers who  are suspected to have been involved in corrupt practices.

Details about the transfers are contained in an internal memo from the Service Administration Officer in the office of the Inspector General.

The memo shows names of implicated officers from the Criminal Investigation Department-CID and Traffic being redeployed to general duties departments.

According to the memo, the 8 officers include six traffic officers and 2 CID officers who were allegedly found collecting bribes.

Critics question the transfers, saying the implicated officers are supposed to face the wrath of the law like any other corruption suspect.

But National Police Publicist James Kadadzera said that this is to show that the MPS does not condone Corruption in any form.
