A sessions court has sentenced a 32-year-old man to life imprisonment after holding him guilty of murdering his 19-year-old brother in 2017. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 1,000 on the convict, identified as Sunil Mane.
As per reports, Sunil stayed with his parents and younger brother, Akash Mane, in Thane’s Bhiwandi town near Mumbai. Akash, who was unemployed and addicted to alcohol, often picked up arguments with his parents and Sunil over booze money. He used to abuse his parents and Sunil for refusing to give money for buying liquor.
According to a report by The Times of India, on October 12, 2017, Akash asked his mother to give him Rs 500 to buy liquor. When she refused him money, he got filled with rage and left the house. Shortly afterwards, he returned and demanded Rs 2,000 from Sunil. Unable to bear his misbehaviour, Sunil allegedly severely thrashed him with a stick, leading to injuries that resulted in his death.
