The Blantyre City Council has asked business owners to renew their business licenses or else face a closure by July 1, 2021.
The Council’s Director of Commerce and Industry Dennis Chinseu has confirmed the development.
Chisewu told journalists in Blantyre on Wednesday that they expect to issue 7, 500 licenses that will enable them generate about 600 million kwacha.
“We ask all business owners to allow us inspect their business to see if they are adhering to health and safety standards,” said Chinseu.
He further stated that the council has also introduced the electronic issuance of business licenses to simplify the process of regulating businesses.
