Malawi Posts Corporation (MPC) employees have today started a national wide strike aiming at forcing the management to act on salary presidencies.
In Blantyre, disgruntled employees have sealed the head offices rendering hundreds of MPC customers who intended to book their post busses and collect parcels stranded.
The strike has also affected bus operations as all buses are grounded in Blantyre.
In Mzuzu, the workers have also sealed MPC offices with tree branches.
General secretary for the parastals workers union Esme Kalizang’oma says the strike comes as a last resort to efforts the workers have been making to engage management to sort out their grievances.
Among other demands, the workers want management to remit pension funds and adjust upwards salaries that have remained stagnant for years.
Management is yet to comment on the strike.
