Kenyan man was recently arraigned at court after he terminated his wife’s pregnancy with a kick over food.
Kalvin Amwai however denied causing grievous harm to his wife who was in her second trimester.
The court heard that Amwai committed the offence on 31st May last month at about 9pm at night at his house in Kabiria area within Dagoreti Sub-County.
According to particulars, Amwai who had a child with his wife left home only for him to return in the night. He asked for food but there was none to be offered to him since the wife had not cooked any.
Lack of food elicited some anger and he started quarrelling with his wife, and just before the wife explained why there was nothing to eat the man threw punches and kicks thereby injuring her seriously.
His wife who was five months old pregnant called for help and she was rushed to the hospital only to be told that she had miscarried.
The matter was reported at the police station prompting his arrest. He pleaded not guilty before the Chief Magistrate Charles Mwaniki.
He was however granted a bond of Ksh300,000 pending; pre-trial on June 17.
