Sub Traditional Authority Maoni of Chiradzulu has been laid to rest in his area in the district.

The late Chief has been described by many as a custodian of culture and development.

Chiefs who spoke at the event including Senior Chief Mpama of Chiradzulu said the departed chief left a legacy worth emulating citing his zeal for promoting sanitation, health, education and culture in the area as untiring.

The Deputy Minister of Local Government, Halima Daudi, said Government is saddened with the death of Maoni.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Local Government has urged the bereaved families to choose the right successor to avoid chieftaincy wrangles.

” I have urged the bereaved family to choose a right candidate who can continue fostering development agenda as the late Sub Traditional Authority was doing, politicians should not interfere in your choice of the next chief,” said Daudi.

Born  Robin Innocent Jamu, STA Maoni, died on Sunday after a long illness. He is survived by a wife, three children and nine grandchildren.
