The remains of Zambia’s founding father and former President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda will be laid to rest on July 7, 2021 at the Presidential burial site in Lusaka.
According to Zambian government, the body of Dr. Kaunda will be moved to all 10 province of the country, however there will be no body viewing due to coronavirus which is devastating the country.
Dr. Kaunda died on June 17, 2021 after battling pneumonia at the age of 97.
He was one of the last surviving figures from the anti-colonial struggle of the 1950s.
Kaunda also known as KK, served as the first Zambian President from 1964 to 1991.
He was born in the family of eight to an ordained Church of Scotland missionary and teacher.
His parents migrated from Malawi.
