Former Member of Parliament for Nkhata-Bay Central Constituency Symon Vuwa Kaunda has finally voted on the ongoing by-elections.

Kaunda, a candidate for the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) exercised his constitution right at Town Hall Centre in Nkhata-Bay.

While his main challenger Raphael Mhone of People’s Party (PP) has also exercised his constitutional right.

After Mhone lost the elections in 2019, he took the matter to the High Court in Mzuzu where Justice Thomson Ligowe dismissed the application, but won the case after moving the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA).

Kaunda, dissatisfied with the SCA ruling, took the Government of Malawi to the African Court on Human and Peoples Rights (The Court), seeking provisional measures to stop implementation of the Supreme Court of Appeal, but also today’s by-elections. His application was dismissed.
