Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda who is also Co-chairperson of the Presidential Taskforce on Coronavirus is asking the members of the general public to continue wearing face masks to contain the spread of the global pandemic, Coronavirus.

“One of the preventive measures in the fight against Covid-19 is the proper wearing of facemask which is now mandatory in all public places under the gazetted Covid-19 prevention and containment rules,” the Minister said

Kandodo Chiponda made the plea in a statement on Coronavirus situation daily update seen by this reporter.

“I would like to appreciate those that have taken up the wearing of face masks seriously and let me encourage the public to wear a mask always,” Chiponda said.

According to Chiponda with the increased number of news cases and increased number of active cases, the risk of rapid transmission of the virus in communities remains high.

“We may have some people that have the virus but have no symptoms and they can easily transmit the infection hence the need for every one of us to strictly adhere to the preventive and containment measures,” she said.

In the last 24 hours at least 229 people tested positive for the virus with two new deaths and 37 new recoveries.
