In Kenya, a 25-year-old farmhand accused of assaulting his boss’ 7-year-old son with a panga in Eldama Ravine has been arrested.

The houseboy identified as Emmanuel Wanjala Wafula is said to have committed the offence over salary arrears.

Wanjala was arrested within Benoin village hours after committing the offence on Tuesday, June 29 around 10 PM.

The victim’s father Clement Chesang’ is said to have gone to see off his visitors leaving the son sleeping in the main bedroom.

According to the DCI, the perpetrator entered the main bedroom and committed the heinous act on the minor and disappeared.

The victim sustained a deep cut on the left of the head and was rushed to Mediheal Hospital in Nakuru while in critical condition.

He is still undergoing medication at the facility.

Chesang’ reported the matter at Eldama Ravine police station leading to a search operation being launched by detectives who managed to get hold of him

The suspect told the officers that he had gone to ask for his money before committing the offence.

DCI says the suspect accepted to demonstrate how he committed the offence and where he disposed off the assault weapon.

The blood-stained panga that had been thrown about 50 meters from the scene of the crime was recovered by detectives.

The suspect is being held by police officers pending arraignment.
