Former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) Governor Dalitso Kabambe who is also one of the Presidential Aspirants for Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has hailed party supporters for standing with him during his arrest.

Kabambe was arrested in Lilongwe yesterday alongside three others on allegations of abuse of Office during his time at the Central Bank.
He was granted bail on Wednesday.

Writing on his official facebook page after his release Kabambe hailed his follows for being with him in players.

“I am indebted to the support that various sectors of Malawians, who firmly believe in the constitutionality of this country, have given me and my family. The messages, words of encouragement and prayers have all been of great use to us in this time.

“I remain trusting in the Malawi judiciary and, therefore, remain positive that the allegations levelled against my name will be cleared,” wrote Kabambe.

He added: “In the meantime, I would like to urge all Malawians who believe in my vision to remain steadfast and unshaken. No amount of propaganda or persecution should move us.

“Once again, thank you all who have showed your support, have sent kind messages and have remembered me in your prayers or marched to court in solidarity.

“Your support is not in vain and it will not be in vain.”

Meanwhile the party is yet to comment on Kabambe’s arrest.
