Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda has urge all Muslims in the country to follow all the Covid-19 preventive measures as they’re celebrating Eid ul Aldha on Wednesday as one way of curbing the further spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Kandodo said this on Monday during a press briefing in Lilongwe where she highlighted that Leaders in Mosques should take lead in regulating number of people praying during the Eid and follow procedures as they will be sharing different items to make sure that the number does not exceed 100 for people praying inside the mosque.

“I also urge people with health problems like asthma, diabetic and those with symptoms of covid-19 to celebrate in their houses to avoid spreading or getting the covid-19 Virus.”said Kandodo.

Spokesperson of Muslim Association of Malawi Dinala Chabulika Said the celebration is important in the Muslim Calander as all Muslims come and pray together and share meat to fellow Muslims as a way of honouring the willingness of Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismael.

Chabulika has further encourage Muslims to take their own praying material during the celebration and to follow all the prevent measures.
