Business came to a standstill this morning in Limbe Township as angry vendors chased law enforcers who have been deployed in the city to enforce some of the new COVID-19 measures aimed at preventing further spread of the pandemic

Since last week Friday, the Malawi Police Service (MPS) have been on the street across the country enforcing operation Vala Mask.

The exercise has seen over 200 Malawians being arrested for not wearing mask.

Today, the law enforcers invaded Limbe Township to enforce the exercise but this did not go down well with some of the vendors playing trade the Township.

The development resulted into a pandemonium between the police and the angry vendors who started pelting stones.

The law enforcers had to run for their lives.

Meanwhile the situation is still tense in Limbe at the moment.
