Leader of Opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the South has expressed shock over the death of 21 people in a fatal road accident at Lizulu in Ntcheu.

Writing on his official facebook page Nankhumwa said: “It is with great shock and disbelief that I received news of the unfortunate death of atleast 21 people in a horrific traffic accident that happened in the wee hours of Sunday, August 1, 2021 near Lizulu in Ntcheu.

“I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to all the families that have lost their loved ones.

“I am particularly grief-stricken to learn that most of the people who have died were from one family. May their good souls rest in peace.

“To those that have suffered various injuries, my prayer to the Most Loving God is that you recover quickly. I cannot wait to see you back on your feet and continue to contribute positively towards the social and economic development of our beautiful country.”

Meanwhile President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has declared a two-day of mourning.
