The Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services has deported a Pakistan National Shahzad Khan after he served his jail term on kidnapping charges.

On 17th December, 2020, the Blantyre Magistrate Court sentenced Mr Shahzad Khan together with two other Pakistan nationals namely; Hamza Akbar and Lehrasib Khan to 48 months imprisonment after being found guilty of kidnapping a  five-year-old Asian child, contrary to Section 263 of the Penal Code.

After serving their sentence, Mr. Hamza Akbar and Mr. Lehrasib Khan were deported to their home country on 18th June, 2021 through Chileka International Airport in Blantyre.

However, Mr. Shahzad Khan, upon receipt of notification of cancellation of his Permanent Resident Permit and a deportation order by the Minister of Homeland Security, he applied for a court injunction preventing the cancellation of his permit and deportation.

Nevertheless, the Department challenged the injunction and on 28th July 2021, the High court in Blantyre which was presided over by Justice Madise, lifted the injunction and ordered his deportation.

The order was executed on Saturday, and Mr. Shahzad Khan left the country through Chileka International Airport (CIA).

Meanwhile, due to the deportation, he was also declared a Prohibited Immigrant under section 4(i) of the Immigration Act.
