Malawi’s Women Caucus Committee of parliament has vowed to lobby other lawmakers not to pass the 2013-14 national budget if it will not have a vote for family planning.

The female MPs made the revelation on Thursday during a follow-up meeting on achieving family planning commitments developed in August 2012 in Kampala Uganda.

The MPs say government intervention on family planning can help reduce health challenges including maternal deaths Malawi is facing.

They said this is why they will lobby that in the next budget there should be funding for family planning initiatives.
