An Israel company is in Malawi to assess the possibility of cultivating industrial hemp and processing it into medicinal hemp-products.
Senior Cannabis Consultant for Malawi-Israel Gold Limited, Geri Kolin, says the company also plans opening a training institution for medicinal cannabis cultivation and processing targeting local farmers in the country.
Kolin says the company’s vision, is to create Africa’s first cannabis hub in Malawi.
The team has met Agriculture minister Lobin Lowe and is processing access to a license from the Cannabis Regulatory Authority.
Ministry spokesperson, Grecian Lungu, is optimistic that local farmers shall benefit from projects to be implemented by the company.
