ZIMBABWE – A repeat offender, armed robber and rapist spent 27 days with three gunshot injuries and a damaged private part without seeking medical attention fearing arrest.

Kudakwashe Choga appeared before Harare Magistrate Judith Taruvinga facing four counts of armed robbery and rape. Choga is not a first time offender as he was convicted of similar offences and served 36 months in prison. He also has pending cases he is yet to be charged with at various police stations.
Choga appeared separately with Ashton Chikurunhe and Esther Kambande who were facing accessory to robbery charges.
The court heard that the two were supplying Choga with information that the police were looking for him, while supplying false information to the police regarding his whereabouts. The two were also responsible for nursing his gunshot wounds as he was hiding from the police at his in-laws’ place of residence in Domboshava.
The firearms used in the commission of the crimes and his accomplices Abel Marufu, Harangwi, Blessing Gamanya and Edmore Marwizi are yet to be accounted for. Harare Magistrate Judith Taruvinga remanded Choga in custody to September 17 and advised him to approach the High Court for bail.
