The body of Wezzie Gondwe who was an Independent Member of Parliament Mzimba East Constituency was laid to rest on Monday at her home district.

The funeral ceremony brought together thousands of people from all walks of life including MPs and not forgetting leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa.

Deputy Local Government Minister Halima Daudi represented President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera at the funeral and she said the President was deeply saddened with Gondwe’s death.

On his part First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Madalitso Kazombo asked the family of the departed MP to remain united.

Kazombo further called on Raiply Malawi Limited, that has been working hand in hand with the late Gondwe, to build a community college and name it after her.

Gondwe died of liver complications last week in South Africa.
