The government has cancelled an order for 153,600 doses of AstraZeneca which was scheduled to arrive in the country over the weekend.

In a vaccine shipment update, health authorities have only indicated the cancellation of the order, without giving specific reasons for the decision.

The development is however coming amid continued low uptake of Covid vaccines which raise fears of another possible serum wastage.

The Ministry of Health has however indicated that the government is still expecting to receive 372, 000 doses Pfizer vaccine before this month ends.

Another consignment of 360,000 doses of AstraZeneca is set to arrive at the end of this month.
