Two officials from Mmbelwa District Council have been suspended to pave way for investigations into alleged fraud by some revenue collectors and failure to produce relevant financial reports.
The two are Amon Kamala who is Director of Finance and Steve Chima the district’s Director of Administration.
The council’s chairperson Yolanda Ngwira and Principle secretary in the Ministry of Local Government Charles Kalemba have confirmed of the development.
The suspension follows Kalemba’s advice after getting reports of inaction by the council on allegations of corruption by some revenue collectors.
Of late the council has also come under fire for lack of transparency and accountability in the use of Constituency Development Fund (CDF)( and the district development funds.
