A youth in Madhya Pradesh was allegedly set ablaze by the family of a female friend. The incident took place during the early hours of Friday in the Sagar district. The man suffered 90 per cent burn injuries. Following the incident, he was rushed to hospital where he breathed his last.
As per sources, the police have demanded the demolition of the accused’s home – a practice done by the state government against people who are involved in crimes. Minister Bhupendra Singh, an MLA from the Sagar district, has supported the demolition demand made by the villagers.
Accused poured petrol on youth, set him afire
The incident came to light at around 1 am in Semra Leharia village, when some of the locals saw a man engulfed in flames. The man has been identified as Rahul Yadav.
Reportedly, the 25-year-old man went to meet a woman on the day of the incident. However, he was caught by her family members who poured petrol and set him ablaze, The Times of India reported.
The police said that in his dying declaration, Dev named four persons, including the woman’s father, elder brother and two other persons. The woman also suffered 50 per cent burns in the incident and is undergoing treatment.
The deceased man’s maternal uncle said, “Rahul told us that Deepak Sharma, Vishnu Sharma and two others had set him ablaze. ” The accused have been taken into custody by the police.
