Initial organizers of the annual festival of Mulhakho wa Alhomwe are alleging that government is planning to stop the celebrations.

This according to Chief Executive Officer for Mulhakho wa Alhomwe Pious Mvenya who said that there are reports that government agents are poised to stop the festival.

Today, the Presidential Taskforce on Coronavirus is expected to meet to look at the status of the pandemic in the country.

Lately there have been a decline of Coronavirus infections.

However, the Mulhakho wa Alhomwe says the meeting by Covid-19 presidential taskforce is aiming at cancelling the festival.

Responding to the allegations, government spokesperson Gospel Kazako said government has no intention of operating clandestinely saying there are laws to follow.

The celebrations are scheduled to take place on October 10, 2021.
