Three people of the same family have been murdered by unknown assailants in the area of Traditional Authority Tengani in Nsanje last night. The three are yet to be identified.
Senior Chief Tengani has confirmed the incident saying the murder has taken place in the area of group village head Ntolongo.
According to Senior Chief Tengani, the unknown assailants first hacked a man and his wife who slept outside their house, before killing a granny, mother to the man who slept in the house.
The motive behind the murder is not known but according to the traditional leader, the three have been murdered on witchcraft accusations.
The district’s police spokesperson, Sub Inspector, Agnes Zalakoma says details will be provided once they are ready, saying a team responsible for criminal investigations has been to the scene.
