An 8 months old baby, Malitaso Kadyankena has drowned in a water bucket at Kawale in Lilongwe.
The incident is reported to have taken place on October 7, 2021 at around 10:00am.
Osten Kadyankena, father to the deceased reported that on the day, his wife went to draw water, leaving the baby sleeping inside their house.
On her return, the mother got surprised seeing her child in the bucket which had full of water.
The matter was reported to Kawale police who rushed to the scene and took the dead body to Kamuzu central Hospital. Postmortem confirmed that death was due to suffocation.
Malitaso Kadyankena hailed from Masankhawa village, Traditional Authority Tsabango in Lilongwe District.
