United Democratic Front (UDF) Chairperson who is also the country’s former president Bakili Muluzi has challenged former president Peter Mutharika to address leadership problems that have engulfed the former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Muluzi made the call yesterday at Chonde in Mulanje during the Mulhakho Wa Alhomwe annual celebrations.

In his remarks Muluzi strongly condemns the divisions that have rocked the party hence calling Mutharika to find ways and means in re unifying the party.

Muluzi said it was sad to note that all DPP structures from area, district and the region were intact save for leadership wrangles at the helm of the party, an apparent reference to the succession war between aspirants Kondwani Nankhumwa and Dr. Dalitso Kabambe.

In his remarks, Mutharika told the gathering that he was aware of the leadership fight but urged those involved to wait till 2023 when the party shall hold its elective convention stressing that “for now till then, I am leader”.
