Malawi’s former Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Samuel Tembenu has announced his retirement from politics.

Tembenu, who is a lawyer, served his ministerial position under former president Peter Mutharika’s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) reign.

“Sorry, I forgot that I have retired from politics,” Tembenu said.

Tembenu was also one of DPP lawyers in the 2020 presidential elections case which saw Mutharika’s presidency nullified.

Recently he made headlines urging the former ruling party leadership to go back on its drawing board.
