The body of Archbishop Emeritus Doctor Bernard Amos Malango, former Bishop of Upper Shire will be laid to rest on Wednesday, November 3 2021 at Saint Thomas Church in Lilongwe.
Bishop of Upper Shire Diocese Brighton Vita Malasa has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.
“The Anglican Council in Malawi with consultation with the bereaved Malango family, have announced that the Late Archbishop Emeritus Doctor Bernard Amos Malango, former Bishop of Upper Shire, former Bishop of Northern Zambia and former Electroral Commissioner of the Malawi Electoral Commission, former Chairman of National AIDS Commission and a former member of the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peace; will be laid to rest on Wednesday the 3rd day of November, 2021 at Saint Thomas Church – Lilongwe, Anglican Diocese of Lake Malawi.
“Requiem Mass will be celebrated from 10am by the Lord Bishop of Lake Malawi, the Right Reverend Francis Kaulanda, whilst the Provincial Secretary – the Right Reverend William Mchombo, representing Archbishop Doctor Albert Chama and entire Anglican Church of the Province of Central Africa (Botswana, Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe) will give the Homily,” reads in part the statement.
According to the statement, Bishop Malango will be laid to rest at Saint Thomas Church – in the City of Lilongwe, adjacent to the Late Bishop Peter Nathaniel Nyanja, former Bishop of Lake Malawi.
Malango died on Saturday morning.
