Center for Human Rights and Rehabilitation (CHRR) Executive Director, Michael Kaiyatsa, demanded a pause on local and foreign trips by President Lazarus Chakwera on account that they are draining the meagre public resources the country has.
Political and Social commentator, Wonderful Mkutche, joined the call, expressing concern that the president is not living by his own gospel to brace for tough economic times the country is sailing through, yet he is spending a lot travelling and allowances for his entourage daily.
An Economic expert, Dr. Betchani Tchereni, said Malawians should start to question the budgetary allocations to State House against the number of trips the president makes.
Chakwera left Malawi for Durban in South Africa for a Second Intra-Africa Trade Fair organized by Afrexim Bank.
