Some female police officers in Blantyre are accusing their seniors of abusing their power after leaked communique shows they have been reverted from various departments to general duties and others transferred from Blantyre police to other districts.

The female officers who have asked for anonymity say the senior officers are alleging that they went for a mother’s day trip in Mangochi without permission, insulting the police commissioner and absconding a presidential function at Mbulumbuzi in Chiradzulu, offences which they have denied.

“While the disciplinary committee is still handling the matter, 8 of 30 officers that went to the trip have already been punished. We call on others to intervene and assist us,” said the heart broken female police officers.

National Police Spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner James Kadadzera, says this is an internal disciplinary matter and has threatened that if they know the officers who reported the matter to the media, police will add the offence to the female officers.
