The Office of Ombudsman has taken a step in having the injunction obtained by the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) vacated.
MERA obtained an injunction stopping Ombudsman Grace Malera from releasing a report of findings on recruitment of MERA Chief Executive Officer Henry Kachaje.
Malera confirmed filing the application.
According to Malera, the application has been filed today and her office is waiting from the court to set the day for the hearing.
Adding to that Malera has also asked the court to discharge the leave for judicial review which was granted to MERA to challenge her decision to release the report.
Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) commissioner Richard Chapweteka filed a complaint against Kachaje’s recruitment saying he was assured that he was the one to be considered for MERA CEO Post.
According to Ombudsman’s leaked report, there was indeed an error in Kachaje’s recruitment.
