Malawi’s film The Last Fishing Boat on Saturday won the Best Achievement in Soundtrack award during the 9th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) grand finale held at Gloryland Cultural Centre, Bayelsa in Nigeria.
As the one who developed sang the songs in the movie, acoustic musician Lloyd Phaundi also known as Agorosso received the award and was accompanied on stage by the creator of the movie Shemu Joyah.
The Last Fishing Boat, which is Joyah’s second movie and was shot in Mangochi, received five nominations during the nominations gala in Lilongwe.
Joyah said the competition was stiff and that he was happy for the film to have brought home another award and that he was looking forward to developing more movies.
Close to 27 awards were won during the grand finale with Nigeria dominating.
The event was run under the theme Africa One.
