Finally Bishop George Desmond Tambala has been installed as Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Lilongwe.

The installation ceremony took place at Maula Cathedral on Saturday and President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and his Vice Dr. Saulos Chilima were in attendance.

After the installation, there was mass celebration at Civo Stadium.

“Today was a special day for the Archdiocese of Lilongwe and the Cathedral when Archbishop George Desmond Tambala was installed in a colorful ceremony from the Cathedral followed by holy mass at CIVO Stadium,” reads in part the statement.

Tambala was appointed by Pope Francis on the post in September this year.

He replaces late Archbishop Ziyaye who died in December last year.
