The Siamese twin babies that were born in Thyolo in December last year have died. The babies died on Sunday at Thyolo District where they were born on December 3, 2012.
They succumbed to heart failure, according to district health officials.
“We lost them yesterday (Monday) at around 5pm. it was heart failure. One of the twins started bleeding in the morning. Tried to stop the bleeding but failed and by afternoon she was very weak and she died at around 5pm and the other baby also died about three minutes later,” said Thyolo District Health Officer Andrew Likaka.
Tests conducted on the babies by doctors at Queen elizabeth Central hospital found the babies were sharing one part of their hearts and therefore difficult to separate.
