Three Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) officials have spent their night in police custody following their arrests.
The three include former Minister of Finance, Josephy Mwanavenkha, former Reserve Bank of Malawi Governor, Dalitso Kabambe and former Minister of Local Government, Ben Phiri.
According to Malawi Police spokesperson James Kadadzera, Mwanamvekha and Kabambe were arrested for presenting false economic figures to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Ben Phiri is in custody as the registered owner of Beata Investments over fraud and corruption at Ministry of Gender between 2018 and 2020.
They are yet to appear before court.
