All the four opening fixtures for the 2013 TNM Super League season have produced results with new entrants Mponela United earning a baptism of fire as they went down 5-2 at the hands of Kamuzu Barracks in a game played at Nankhaka Ground in Area 30.
The Mponela heavyweights were no match for the soldiers, who produced a sterile performance that should serve as a warning even to well established teams in the Super League.
At Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, Mighty Wanderers also made sure they got to a winning start when they edged visiting Epac with goals from man-of-the-match Victor Mpinganjira and Mike Kaziputa (penalty).
Epac, who trailed 2-0 at half-time replied one back through their marksman Ishmael Thindwa in the second half.
Another result was recorded at Zomba Community Centre, where Red Lions trounced Mafco 3-0 in an all-soldiers affair.
Moyale Barracks, who normally start the league on a low note and pick up their broken pieces in the course of action showed their usual character, going down 1-2 against visiting Blue Eagles at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa.
The action resumes tomorrow (April 28, 2013) with champions Silver Strikers entertaining their city rivals Civo United at Civo Stadium. Big Bullets face Blantyre United at the Kamuzu Stadium with Azam Tigers taking on the wounded soldiers from Mafco at Kalulu Stadium.
New kids on the block Envirom FC will be up against Epac at Zomba Community as Super Eagles make their debut league appearance against Blue Eagles at Chitowe.
