The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has asked the general public to stay away from ant-government demonstrations organized by Bon Kalindo which are slated for today in the commercial city of Blantyre.

According to a press statement signed by Police’s publicist James Kadadzera, the organizers did not notice the District Commissioner which is contrary to section 96 of the Malawi Police Act.

Kadadzera then warned that failure to comply with requirements of the “rendered the planned demonstrations unlawful”

“MPS is therefore calling up all citizens intending to participate in the planned demonstrations to stay away from these demonstrations as the organizers of the demonstrations have deliberately chosen not to comply with the law,” read party of the statement.

Yesterday, Kalindo’s loud-hailing vehicle was moving in Blantyre announcing that the planned demonstrations are on today.

Ironically, Kalindo has been summoned by the Lilongwe Senior Magistrate Court, on the same day he is planning to hold demonstrations.
