President Lazarus Chakwera and his vice Saulos Chilima have sent congratulatory messages to the country’s national football team the Flames for their victory against Warriors of Zimbabwe in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

In a statement seen by this publication the Malawi leader thanked the flames for what he described as a fighting spirit in which Malawi stands for.

According to the president, last score is what actually matters, hence The Flames deserves to be recognized for carrying the day.

On his part the country’s vice president Chilima expressed his heartfelt congratulations to The Flames for what he said an impressive win against the Warriors.

“Never say never. Keep on fighting. I particularly like the current style of play that the team seems to have adopted, starting with the Guinea match which we unfortunately lost,” Chilima said.

He then thanked the coaching panel for the job well done as he reminded them to keep fighting for the flag of Malawi.

The Flames Defeated Zimbabwe Warriors by 2 – 1.
