Government’s Presidential Taskforce on Covid-19 has hinted that it is planning on relaxing restrictions that were put in place to curb the spread of the global pandemic.

The Taskforce is scheduled to meet next week to review the restrictions, according to Minister of Health Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda.

According to Chiponda the decision has been reached following a decrease in new cases of Coronavirus in the recent days.

However, health rights activist George Jobe, Executive Director for Malawi Health Equity Network, feels this may not be the right time to start thinking of relaxing the restrictions.

He advises government to maintain the restrictions until death rate reduces.
