Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) vice president for the South Kondwani Nankhumwa who is also the leader of opposition has distanced himself from a statement which attacked DPP’s leader Peter Mutharika.
According a statement from Nankhumwa seen by this publication, he claims the statement is one of the cheap propagandas aimed at tarnishing his image and reputation.
“I wish to set the record straight that I never authored that statement. From deep down my heart, I wish to state that I hold His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, the President of the mighty Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), in high esteem and respect and, therefore, I would not author such a malicious statement against him. I regard him as my father,” said Nankhumwa.
According to Nankhumwa he would never author statement demeaning the former head of state that he was a nobody when he came to Malawi.
“If one goes through that poorly crafted statement, they will notice the use of poor grammar, sentence construction and spelling errors. It also sadly mentions that His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika was a NOBODY when he returned to Malawi from exile. Such careless statements have never been associated with me ever since I knew His Excellency Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika,” he said.
According to Nankhumwa he would never be involved in name calling or insulting as “I fully understand that all leaders are put on the throne by God for a purpose at any particular time.”
Nankhumwa crashed with the former head of state for using the picture of the late Bingu Wa Mutharika who happens to be APM’s late brother and the founder of DPP.
