President Lazarus Chakwera is at Capital Hill at the Presidential Delivery Unit where he is tackling bureaucratic and administrative obstacles that have delayed implementation of the Mpatamanga 350 MW Hydro-Power Project, the Mozambique-Malawi Interconnector Project and the Malawi Electrification Access Project.

State House Press Officer Anthony Kasunda has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

To address the challenges and push for progress towards energy sufficiency for Malawi, the President has called in senior officials from the Ministry of Energy, from EGENCO, from ESCOM, from Roads Authority, from Public Private Partnership Commission, and from the World Bank.

Together, the three projects represent 1.5 billion dollars of foreign direct investment aimed at doubling the number of Malawians with access to electricity in the next few years.
