Musician Lawrence Khwisa (Lulu) has come up with a song which tells the story of fashion in Malawi after organisers of Malawi Fashion Week (MFW) asked for his services.

Lulu said he has titled the song “Malawi Tiye”

According to Lulu, the song “tells the story of where we are coming from, where we are and where we are heading to”

He said the song – a dancebale tune – will be released before the Malawi Fashion Week scheduled to take place from May 30 to June 3 .

Lulu will lead a team of upcoming artists at the launch of MFW in singing and dancing as part of the entertainment.

Meanwhile, Lulu latest album titled Ndakudziwa continues to enjoy massive airplay despite the release date having being shifted to July 2013.

The album is expected to be the first for the skillful silky voice singer to release under Elegant Music, a Malawian record label under Elegant Resources by Ariana Louise to which Lulu, real name Lawrence Khwisa is currently signed since January 2013.

Elegant Music confirmed that the album which is expected to be his fourth after Mbambande, Kumalembe and Sindililora will be released in July this year.

This means fans of the Magwiragwira fame will have to wait a little bit longer to sample out the contents of the new album which has already shaken the airwaves with two recent singles taken from the album Ndizalera and Mponyere.

“The first two singles were released between February and March. In this case, we wanted to give the people enough time to listen to the promo songs before we put the CD on the market,” said Kimpho Loka, public relations manager of Elegant Music.

Loka added: “There is no hiccup that may have led to this change and I can confirm that the album will be on the market mid July because as a label we are satisfied with the response that the album, through the promo songs is receiving. This indicates music lovers are ready for the album.”

However, despite the change, the multi-talented singer and composer continues to increase people’s anticipation to the new album with the release of a new single Mtima wakana.

The latest song went on radio on May 2, 2013 and becomes the third single of the yet-to-be launched album.

Done in the typical Lulu touch, it talks of the state of denial the heart and body of the character in the song is in as a result of staying far away, for a long time and without meeting or talking to the loved one.

The label also released ‘Ndzalela’ video, which is locally enjoying airplay on MBC TV and will soon be on AFJ TV.

“All the songs that are in the album were composed and recorded by the singer-cum producer at Mathumela Studio. With the new album, his fans should brace for numerous live shows across the country,” Loka said.
