The Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA) has said 193, 558 households, almost a million people, have so far been affected by Tropical Storm Ana.

DoDMA made the remarks during a media briefing in Blantyre today on the disaster status accompanied by Malawi Defense Force, Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi and Roads Authority.

According to DoDMA Commissioner, Charles Kalemba, of the people, 33 have been confirmed dead as of yesterday, 158 have been injured and 20 are missing.

He further said that 22,174 households have been displaced and are residing in 122 camps in 13 affected district councils.

He has since appealed for food, shelter, agricultural inputs for replanting and other assistance for the affected.
