The Malawi Police Services (MPS) has reinstated twelve police officers who were interdicted on allegations of trafficking of persons but were later cleared by the court in Mzuzu.

Sources inside the police say the twelve are likely to go through scrutiny again on whether they breached the Malawi Police Act or not.

The source says such cases are usually referred to the Police Service Commission for scrutiny and determination on the way forward.

One of the affected officers described the delay to reinstate them as mental torture.
