President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is expected to leave the country today for the 35th African Union (AU) Summit in Ethiopia.

According to information at hand, the plane carrying President Chakwera is expected to depart Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in the capital Lilongwe at 2pm.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

The summit which will be held under the theme “Building resilience and nutrition of the African continent. Accelerate the human capital, social and economic development”, will run for three days from February 4 to 6 February 2022.

Chakwera is expected to return home on February 7, 2022.
